It was commissioned in the early 1960's to Walter Ribani (Carraca, Italy) by Carlos Chalbaud Zerpa and Francisco Anzil on behalf of the Venezuelan Andean Club. It was installed in September of 1965, after a transatlantic journy that included one steamboat, two locomotives and a cableway.
